What’s Ultrasonic machining?
Ultrasonic machining, is also called "Ultrasonic vibration machining".With high frequency, low amplitude vibrations of a tool against the material surface in the presence of fine abrasive particles,it can remove material from the surface of a part.Normally,grain sizes of the abrasive material range from 100 to 1000, where smaller grains will get the surface finishes more smooth.
Several factors can affect the ultrasonic machining time, such as the workpiece's strength, hardness, porosity and fracture toughness; the slurry's material and particle size; and the amplitude of the sonotrode's vibration. While the hardness and strength will affect the smoothness of the surface finish of materials after machining.
Application of ultrasonic machines
For high level of precision machining, Rotary ultrasonic machines are used in various materials, such as glass, steel, aluminum etc. These materials are used in optical and electrical applications where high precision machining methods are required to ensure tight tolerance and quality performance of hard and brittle materials.
